DAY 3 Athens, Corinth This morning we start our tour of Athens by visiting the important modern and archaeological sites in the city of Athens, the Acropolis and neighboring monuments. While driving through the main streets of Athens, we have an opportunity to see other places of interest such as the University, the Academy, the National Library, the Temple of Zeus, the Panathenian Stadium, Omonia Square, Constitution Square and the Royal Palace. This afternoon we drive along the coastal road to Corinth. Continue along the wonderful beach of Kinetta, make a brief stop at the Corinth Canal, then on to ancient Corinth to visit the Museum, the Bema of St. Paul, the Doric Temple of Apollo, the Askeleion, Agora, Lechaion Road, and the Peirene Fountain. Return to our hotel for dinner overnight. DAY 4 This morning we board our bus and begin our journey to Mycenae. The Mycenaean’s were fierce warriors and great engineers who designed and built remarkable bridges, fortification walls, and beehive-shaped tombs, all employing Cyclopean masonry and elaborate drainage and irrigation systems. Their palatial centers, “Mycenae rich in gold” and “sandy Pylos,” are immortalized in Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey. This afternoon drive to Patras port to board our ferry to Bari, Italy. Dinner and overnight on the ferry. DAY 5 This morning we will disembark our ship and head to Foro Appio and Tres Tabernaes – Three Taverns, still on the Appian Way, you reach Pozzuoli. This is the same port where Paul landed…and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli. (Acts 28:13). This afternoon we visit the area of the sea-port and the Roman Amphitheater in order to get a sense of what Paul experienced once he arrived on the mainland of the “Roman Empire”. Check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 6 Pompeii, Minturno, Foro Appio This morning we go to Pompeii, and have an archeological journey through the ancient city. Pompeii, which was buried under a layer of ash and pumice by a sudden eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D., is a town whose daily life of the Imperial Age has been petrified. It is as if it were under a spell in its gestures, secrets and in the panic felt by its inhabitants during its last moments. Visiting the “frozen city” creates a feeling similar to that experienced by Paul when he walked through similar streets from his time. Then we will visit the houses, shops, temples, squares, streets and also the “Lupanare” (which was a brothel with its frescos showing erotic scenes) and the “Suburbane Therm” (with erotic frescoes, among which the only saffico-picture of the Roman world). Now you understand the anger of Paul shouting aloud against corruption and perdition of the Romans. Romans 1, 26…. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. Foro Appio, at “Mansio Hotel” is located in the same place where an ancient Roman “posta” (place where travelers could rest and change their tired horses before continuing their journey). This might be the place where the Sacred Writings remind us of the meeting of Paul with the Christian Communities Acts 28:14 (…”And so we came to Rome. The brothers there had heard that we were coming and they traveled as far as the Forum of Appius and the Three Taverns to meet us.”) Depart Foro Appio late in the morning and travel towards Rome, stopping a few minutes at the Church of St. Paul (built in the place where he met the Christian Community) of TRES TABERNE – Three Taverns …and so we went toward Rome. (Acts 28:14.) Then we will continue to Rome. We arrive in Rome in the late morning. In the afternoon we will visit the Roman Forum, Colosseum and Mamertine Prison, where Paul was held. We continue into St.Peter’s Basilica and view Vatican City. This afternoon we visit St. Paul’s Basilica Outside the Walls and the Church of St. Peter in Chains with the famed statue of Moses by Michelangelo. We visit the Old Appian Way and the Catacombs of St. Calixtus, then returnto our hotel for dinner. DAY 9 Rome, USA We will be taken to the airport for our flight home. with memories to cherish always. The city features prominently in the New Testament, at which time this provincial capital was considered a world cultural center. This community was the center of Paul’s activities in Northern Greece. It is where he preached and founded a church, and he wrote two epistles to the people of Thessaloniki (Acts 17:1-9; 1 Thessalonians; 2 Thessalonians). This evening we enjoy a welcome dinner at our hotel. DAY 3 Philippi / Kavala / Thessaloniki Today we tour along the ancient route of the Apostle Paul to Amphipolis (Acts 17:1). Our journey takes us to ancient Philippi, which was named after the father of Alexander the Great. This busy Roman colony boasted a great library and theater. In Philippi, Paul preached and established the first church in Europe, and it was the people of Philippi to whom he wrote one of his epistles while imprisoned in Rome (Acts 16:11-40; Philippians). It was in this area that Paul met Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth. She and her household accepted Christ and were baptized in the nearby river (Acts 16:11-15). Next we continue to Kavala, ancient port of Neapolis (Acts 16:9-11). We return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 4 Thessaloniki / Veria / Kalambaka This morning we stop in Veria (Beroea of the New Testament), where Paul and Silas were sent by friends after being accused of treason in Thessalonika (Acts 17:5-15). We visit the Bema, where Paul is said to have stood and preached the Gospel to the local community. Next we continue to Kalambaka to see the striking scenery of the “Hanging Monasteries”. Perched on top of huge rocks that seem to be suspended in mid-air are ageless monasteries where we can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. There are 24 monasteries in total, with 6 currently inhabited. We visit one of them before checking into our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 5 Kalambaka / Athens Today we depart our hotel and drive to Athens. We stop at Thermopylae, the location where the Greeks victoriously fought for their freedom during the Greco-Persian wars in 480 BC. We see the statue of Leonidas, king of the Greek city-state Sparta. Next we continue to Athens, where we have a panoramic orientation tour and may have some free time to explore the Plaka. Dinner and overnight in Athens. DAY 6 Athens Today in Athens we visit the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Areopagus, and Mars Hill, where the Apostle Paul delivered his well-known sermon (Acts 17:15-34). Meals served on board. DAY 2 Upon arrival in Tel Aviv we are met by our guide who will be with us for the time we are in the Holy Land. Continue through Tel Aviv, the largest city in Israel. We proceed up the new toll road in Israel to the famous Sea of Galilee where we check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 3 This morning we enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Sea of Galileeto Capernaum, then visit Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes. In the afternoon we follow the Rift Valley running parallel to the Jordan, along the route Jesus most frequently traveled to Jerusalem. We visit Beth Sheanat the foot of Mt. Gilboa, where King Saul was slain, see the evidences of Egyptian, Roman and Byzantine occupations, and view the ancient tel, Roman Theater and church mosaics. Our last stop today will be at the Jordan Riverwhere we will have the opportunity to be baptized, then transfer to the hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight. DAY 4 “We are going up to Jerusalem.” (Matt. 20:18). We drive west to Nazareth. Traveling through Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed his first Miracle, turning water into wine (John 2). We proceed to Nazareth and Ascend Mount of the Precipice at the brow of Nazareth to an overlooking surveying the Valley of Jezreel, synonymous with Armageddon. We then drive through the valley to the mound of Megiddo, Har Megiddoin Hebrew, which gave its name to Armageddon. We then ascend Mt. Carmel, site of Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal. From there we drive towards the Mediterranean coast traveling south along the coastal highway to Caesarea by the Sea. We enter Caesarea Maritima to explore this Roman bridgehead to the east, which became the Christian springboard to the west. After the visit this ancient harbor, we board our bus and we head up the historic Beth Horon road (Joshua 10:10) to the Benjamin Plateau, passing ancient Gibeon and continuing on to Jerusalem. Finally, atop Mt. Scopus, we behold majestic Jerusalem. Check in to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay. DAY 5 Today we drive to Masada and ascend by cable car to the magnificent ruins of the fortress where, from 70 to 73 AD, Jewish defenders made their last stand in the Judean revolt against Rome. We see the remains of storehouses, cisterns and a sixth-century Byzantine church. Continuing alongside the Dead Sea, 1300 ft. below sea level — the lowest spot on earth — we proceed to Ein Gedi,where time permitting we will walk the path to see the waterfall in the desert. This afternoon we continue to Qumran. and the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We will have a stop for lunch and for those that want to swim in the Dead Seamay. We travel to Jericho, the world’s oldest city. From the excavated tel atop the ruins of ancient Jericho we view the lush green Jordan Valley, Elisha’s spring and Qarantal, the Mount of Temptation. We will head up to Jerusalem and return to the hotel for dinner. DAY 6 “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace” (Luke 19:42) We start the day with an orientation to Jerusalem from the Mt. of Oliveswith an opportunity of a group photograph overlooking Jerusalem. We then walk the traditional Passion walk. We descend to the church known as Dominus Flevit (“Our Lord weeps”). After viewing the Golden Gate, we walk downhill to Gethsemane,where we take time to meditate on the Gospel text. Boarding our bus (If you want you may walk by the tomb of the kings) and get off at a roman road, where we climb Mt Zion to the grounds of a church called Peter in Gallicantu, which affords the best view of early Jerusalem from the west. (Here, the Assumptions Fathers suggest, was the house where the High Priest Caiaphas interrogated Jesus.) We drive to Dung gate and enter where we will stop at the Steps that entered the temple. It was here that Jesus would have taught the disciples. See a video that shows the temple as it was at Solomon’s time. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11). We drive south to the region of Bethlehem, passing Rachel’s Tomb on the outskirts of Bethlehem. We drive to a hilltop for a view of Bethlehem, noting its relation to the rest of the central mountain range, including Jerusalem, as well as to the desert and the area of ancient Moab. Driving south, we visit Solomon’s Pools, Jerusalem’s main source of water for almost 2000 years. Passing the monastery of Hortus Conclusus (“the sealed garden”) in Artas, we go to Herodion, the palace set in a conical mountain built by Herod to mark his tomb which was in the news lately with the recent discovery of Herod’s Tomb. Note the juxtaposition of the two Kings of the Jews. The King Herod buried in great opulence and the King of the Jews born in a humble manger in Bethlehem sitting in the background of the Herodium. We then drive to one of the possible sites for Shepherds’ Fields. We continue into Bethlehem itself, walking through the restored old town to the Church of the Nativity and visiting the manger and see the cave of St. Jerome. We drive back to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. DAY 7 “He has risen!” (Mark 16:6) After breakfast we transfer to the Dung Gate, we walk up to the Western WallJudaism’s holiest site. We ascend to the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site of Islam, located on the traditional site of the ancient Temple Mount. It is believed that here is where the Temple once stood. Just to the north we find the Pools of Bethesda (John 5) and St. Anne’s Church, the church is perfectly preserved from the Crusader period – with remarkable acoustics. We then follow the Way of the Cross (Via Dolorosa)through the bazaars to the Holy Sepulcher. From there we walk through the Christian Quarter along the Arab Souks and past the Armenian Quarter. This afternoon we will walk out to the Damascus Gate and go to the Garden Tomb where we will end our day with a special visit and the possibility of having a private communion on the grounds outside the city walls. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 8 This morning we will have some time to have a last visit to the old city or just rest and get ready for our flight to Rome. This afternoon we transfer to the airport for our flight to Rome. Upon arrival we will be taken to our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 9 This morning we will visit the most interesting sites which are linked with the life of the Apostle Paul in Rome. Insula di San Paolo alla Regola. First, we visit the beautiful Rustem Pasha Mosque, which was designed by the extraordinarily prolific Ottoman imperial architect, Mimar Sinan. Then, we walk nearby to Eminönü’s Spice Bazaar, the large covered market that has remained the city’s center for spice trade since its creation in the 17th century. Afterwards, we head to the hill where ancient Byzantium was founded and enjoy a stroll through Hippodrome Square, the former sporting and social center of Constantinople that hosted chariot races during the Roman period. Next, we are off to the domed masterpiece of Hagia Sophia, the Orthodox patriarchal basilica-turned Ottoman imperial mosque-turned secular museum commissioned by Byzantine Emperor Justinian in the 6th century. Then, we head to Topkapi Palace, the former abode of Ottoman Sultans that still houses their legion of treasures, including an extensive collection of royal jewels. Dinner and Overnight in Istanbul. DAY 4 Istanbul, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia Today, we will eat breakfast early before heading to the pier to embark our speed ferry departing at 07:00 am. Upon arrival to the Port of Bandirma, we head to the town of Akhisar to visit ancient Thyatira, one of the Seven Churches praised for its increasing faith but admonished for its tolerance of Jezebel (Rev. 2:18-28). Next, we continue to Sardis, a once powerful city located along an important ancient highway and among the fertile plain of Hermus (Geldiz River). Though Sardis was a strong and wealthy city with a reputation for being alive, God announced that it was actually dead (Rev. 3:1-6). Here, we will explore the white marble royal way, the massive Temple of Artemis, the large gymnasium, and the famous synagogue. Annual archaeological expeditions sponsored by Harvard and Cornell Universities have unearthed over eighty Greek and seven Hebrew inscriptions as well as numerous mosaic floors revealing this synagogue as one of the most significant synagogues of antiquity. Afterwards, we will head to the modern town of Alasehir and visit the site of ancient Philadelphia, the church that received God’s highest commendation (Rev. 3:7-13). Here, we will see the remains of a brick-built Byzantine basilica adorned with 11th century frescoes. Dinner and Overnight in Denizli. DAY 5 Denizli, Pamukkale, Laodicea, Kusadasi This morning, we are off to visit Pamukkale, “Cotton Castle”, and dip our feet in the thermal waters that flow down the hilltop’s unique white travertine terraces. At the summit, we explore the archeological remains of Hierapolis, a significant site of early Christianity thanks to Paul’s missionary efforts here (Colossians 4:13). Because the city sits atop the travertine cascades of Pamukkale (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Hierapolis became a healing center wherein the site’s thermal pools were used to treat various ailments. Today, we will stroll among a number of important ruins including well-preserved Roman structures like the town theatre and Temple of Apollo before continuing on to Laodicea. This city was one of the Seven Churches that the Apostle John chastised the inhabitants for being lukewarm (Rev. 3:14-22). Here, we will see the site’s well-preserved stadium, gymnasium, and theatres, giving us insight into this city’s former prominence. Next, we drive to Kusadasi, a beautiful resort town that sits on the Aegean coast Dinner and Overnight in Kusadasi. DAY 6 Kusadasi, Ephesus, Kusadasi Today, we are off to explore Ephesus. Located in the modern town of Selcuk, ancient Ephesus is one of the most well-preserved archaeological sites in Turkey. Originally an ancient Greek Ionic city built in the 10th century B.C., Ephesus grew to become the largest metropolis and capital of the Roman province of Asia Minor. This political influence and the city’s large Jewish community attracted the attention of the apostles, including Paul. Here, he carried out his mission for two years and was Bishop of the Ephesian Church before he was exiled to Patmos. Today, we will walk on the Marble Road passing numerous historically rich sites including the Temple of Artemis (Diana), the fountain of Trajan, and the Temple of Hadrian. We will also see the Library of Celsus, which adorns the site’s most impressive square, and sit in the theater (the largest surviving from the Roman period). This massive theatre (capable of entertaining up to 25,000 spectators) was the scene of an uprising provoked by a merchant named Demetrius against St. Paul and his teachings (Acts 19:23). Before returning to our Kusadasi hotel, we will stop at the ruins of St. John’s Basilica. Constructed by Justinian in the 6th century, this basilica stands over the believed burial site of John the Apostle. Dinner and Overnight in Kusadasi. DAY 7 Kusadasi, Smyrna, Pergamum, Canakkale This morning, we will drive to the thriving modern city of Izmir and visit the ruins of ancient Smyrna, one of the Seven Churches that the Apostle John relays the promise from God: “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Rev 2:10). Here, we will see what remains of the Agora, the ancient market place that was built in the 4th century BC, before continuing on to Pergamum, one of the most powerful cities in the ancient world. The city rose to prominence following the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. and eventually came under Roman control in 133 B.C. Although the city benefited from immense wealth, in the Book of Revelations, the risen Christ instructs John to convey the message that the people of Pergamum, the site of “Satan’s throne”, needed to repent (Rev 2:13-16). Today, we will tour the Acropolis, which sits atop a 1000-foot windswept mountain, offering a view of the neighboring modern towns, the azure waters of the Aegean, and the ruins of Pergamum that cascade down from the ancient city center. Here, we will explore the Temple of Trajan, Temple of Athena and the Altar of Zeus. Unfortunately, little is left of the altar, which was once among the grandest monuments of the ancient world. In fact, every stone of the structure, including its 400-foot long frieze depicting the battle of the gods and giants, was shipped off to Berlin by German Archaeologists leaving only the altar’s foundation. Thankfully, much more remains of the Great Theatre. Among the steepest of its kind and an acoustic phenomenon, this theatre could entertain up to 10,000 spectators. Nearby are the remains of the famous Library of Pergamum. Once housing some 200,000 scrolls, the library’s collection even exceeded that of the great library of Alexandria before Mark Anthony gave it to Cleopatra as a wedding gift. Afterwards, we will drive to Canakkle for the night. Dinner and Overnight in Canakkale. DAY 8 Canakkale, Troy, Istanbul After breakfast, we will drive to the village of Tevfikiye by the entrance of the Dardanelles to see the remains of the legendary city of Troy. Settled as early as 3,000 BC, Troy was made famous by Homer’s Iliad, the epic account of the Trojan War. Afterwards, we will cross the Dardanelles by ferry and head to Istanbul for the night. Here, we will visit Beylerbeyi Palace, which was constructed between 1861 and 1865 during the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz as a summer residence for the Ottoman sultans. Next, we will enjoy impressive views from Camlica Hill. At 268 meters above sea level, it is the highest point in Istanbul, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. From the top, we can see the Bosphorus Bridge, the Eminonu Peninsula, the Sea of Marmara, and the Princes’ Island. Day by Day POST-TOUR: MORE OF TURKEY & CAPPADOCIA DAY 1 Istanbul, Antakya, Adana After enjoying our breakfast, we will head to the Istanbul Ataturk Airport to board our flight to Hatay Airport. Upon arrival, we will drive close by to the city of Antakya (Antioch), an important seat of early Christianity. Here, we will visit the Mosaic Museum to see the second largest collection of classical and Roman mosaics in the world. Afterwards, we will head to one of the oldest churches in Christianity, the Church of St. Peter. This church is actually a cave carved into the side of Mount Starius where the first Christians of Asia Minor worshipped. Before returning to our hotel, we will see Selucia Pieria, the ancient port of Antioch from which the Apostle Paul and Barnabas embarked on their first missionary journeys as chronicled by Acts (Acts:13:4). Dinner and Overnight in Adana. DAY 2 Adana, Tarsus, Cappadocia Today, we depart from our Adana hotel to drive to the dusty provincial town of Tarsus. Once the capital of the province of Cilicia, Tarsus was the site where Mark Antony and Cleopatra first met, and is the birthplace of Paul the Apostle. According to Acts, Paul was born “Saul of Tarsus”, but was brought up in Jerusalem and became “Paul the Apostle” after his encounter with Christ (Acts 9:11; 21:39; 22:3). Here, we will visit the Well of St. Paul and the Gate of Cleopatra. Afterwards, we head north to Cappadocia, where we will stop at Pigeon Valley to enjoy a panoramic view of this region’s unique rock formations, popularly known as fairy chimneys. Formed over many centuries by wind and water erosion on soft volcanic rock, these rock formations rise high from the valley floor like chimneys. Early inhabitants of this region carved these chimney tops with birdhouses to collect pigeon droppings long used by local farmers as fertilizer. Dinner and Overnight in Cappadocia. DAY 3 Cappadocia This morning, we will visit the Kaymakli Underground City, the most impressive of the subterranean settlements due to its ventilation system. Afterwards, we are off to explore the Monastic Center of Goreme. This open-air museum is dotted with quaint carved-from-rock churches and chapels embellished with colorful frescoes. Then, we will visit Ortahisar to see its gorgeous valleys and stop at the Three Beauties, the most famous of the region’s many conic rock formations. Today, we will also hike through the valley of Zelve and see its hundreds of carved-from-rock houses and chapels and we will visit Pasabag Valley, also known as Monk’s Valley, to explore its tower-shaped hermitages. We will then end our day at the potter’s studio in Avanos, a town established by the Hittites on the banks of the Halys River. This town has carried on the Hittities’ tradition of pottery that uses the river’s famous red clay to make ceramics. Dinner and Overnight in Cappadocia. DAY 4 Cappadocia, Konya This morning we leave Cappadocia bound for Konya. First, we reach ancient Iconium, where Paul the Apostle and Barnabas invested a lot of their missionary efforts preaching the Gospel despite persecution. According to Acts, they spoke boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders (Acts 14:1-3). Then, we will head to Konya’s city center and visit the Mevlana Museum, which houses the tomb of the great 13th-century Persian poet and founder of the Order of the WhirlingDervishes, Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi. Popularly known as Rumi in Western countries, meaning “Roman” in Arabic, his followers and Muslims alike call him “Mevlana”, meaning “our master”. We will then end our day at the Karatay Museum. This former medrese, or place of learning, was founded in 1251 by the Seljuk emir Celaleddin Karatay as an institution for Islamic studies. However, the building is now a museum showcasing the most beautiful examples of Seljuk tile work. Dinner and Overnight in Konya. DAY 5 Konya, Antioch Pisidia, Antalya Today, we depart Konya and head to the modern town of Yalvac to see the ruins of Antioch in Pisidia. Sitting on the southern foothills of the Sultan Mountains, this city was once a major Roman colony that Paul the Apostle visited on his First Missionary Journey with Barnabas. Here we will tour the archeological site and visit the Yalvaç Archaeological Museum to see a display of many of the site’s discovered artifacts. Afterwards, we will continue onto Antalya, Turkey’s largest international sea resort which sits on the beautiful Mediterranean coast. Dinner and Overnight in Antalya. DAY 6 Konya, Perge, Aspedos After breakfast, we are off to the archeological site of Perge, a chief city of Pamphylia that was visited twice by Paul the Apostle and his companion St. Barnabas (Acts 13:13–14 and 14:25). Here, we will explore Perge’s extensive ruins, including a well-preserved theatre, the Agora, a colonnaded boulevard, Roman baths, a gymnasium, the necropolis, a memorial fountain, and the Greek and Roman gates. Next, we are off to the ancient Greco-Roman city of Aspendos to see the best-preserved theatre of antiquity. Here, we will also see the ruins of a basilica, agora, nymphaeum, Roman aqueduct, and the Roman Eurymedon Bridge before returning to our Antalya hotel. Dinner and Overnight in Antalya. The safety of our tourists is a primary concern for Favor Travel tours &Tickets. In over 5 last years, we have never had aincident where a traveler was harmed. But travel does contain an element of risk. To address this, we monitor the situation in the places we travel. We also reserve the right to change or cancel our trip itinerary if a safety concern arises in an area. Do I need a visa for my trip? Most of our destinations offer free 90-day visas for U.S. travelers that do not require an application. The only exceptions are Turkey and Jordan, where visas are required. The application process varies and for most trips, we will take care of it for you in advance of your tour. In others, you will obtain a visa upon entry into the country. If you book vacation we will help with information, where visas are required. NOTE: If you are not an American or Canadian citizen, you will need to check with the nearest consulate to find out if visas are required and, if they are, how to obtain one. Do I need a passport? YES. A valid passport is required for international travel. It must be valid for a minimum of 6 months after your return date. Only some countries have exception. If you do not have a passport, please keep in mind, in low volume seasons, it normally takes 4-6 weeks to process, and in high volume seasons, it can take several months. Once you have your passport, you must submit the information to your advisor by sending a photocopy of the picture page of your passport. When should I get my passport? All travelers should apply for a passport at least three months before international travel. The time needed to process an application can vary dramatically depending on the work load of the Department of State. It typically takes six to eight weeks in cases where there are no complications. The Department of State does offer expedited service for an extra fee for travelers adding last minute. Passports must be valid for at least six months after your return date. For more information about applying for a passport, visit travel.state.gov. What if I need to cancel my trip? In the event you must cancel your reservation or payments are not received by our deadlines, refunds are made at a variable rate on a schedule depending on the timing of cancellation. All cancellations are subject to an administrative fee plus a fee schedule dependent on date of cancellation. The specific fee amount are notated in the applicable Travel terms and conditions. What if my luggage is lost or damaged? File a claim at the airport Lost & Found department before you leave the baggage claim area. It is the airline’s responsibility to get lost luggage to you or compensate you for damages. What if I lose something on the tour? FTT&T cannot assume responsibility for items lost while touring. Is it possible to extend my trip to other destinations? Yes. We are happy to assist you in arriving early or leaving later. If you have another destination in mind, please let us know as early as possible, and we will do our best to accommodate you. All extra costs associated with travel deviations are your responsibility. How early should I arrive at the airport? Due to the increased security at airports, we recommend arriving at least three hours prior to departure for domestic flights and at least three hours prior for international flights. What should I bring? Useful items we suggest our tours include (but aren’t limited to) comfortable and breathable clothing, toiletries, comfortable walking shoes, sandals, a swim suit, a rain jacket, a hat, an ample supply of any medications you may be taking, sunscreen, passports, a water bottle, a small backpack or fanny pack, camera, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, snacks and a Bible. In most cases, you will be moving several times to different hotels throughout the trip, so packing on the lighter side makes for an easier trip on you and your group. Please leave all valuables at home. Most airlines allow bags of up to 50 pounds for international flights for no extra charge, however, this has been changing in the industry in recent years and some may add extra fees. You are responsible to check with your carrier and pay all luggage-related fees. Also, we will send you video recommendations before your trip! Any last-minute items I shouldn’t forget? Passport, another form of photo ID, flight information, Bible, sunglasses, camera (with extra batteries & memory cards), electrical converter & adapter, prescriptions, money & sundry toilet items. What about my prescription medication? Bring your medicines in their original containers along with a copy of your prescription as well as the generic name. If you have medication which needs to be refrigerated, you must inform our office at least 105 days prior to the tour so that we can make appropriate arrangements with the airlines and hotels. Any other tips? YES, here’s a few… • Pack light. (Save room for souvenirs!) • Bring copies of important documents like your passport & prescriptions. • Be on time for the bus and prepared to rotate seats each day if needed. In some tours there are no rotation. • Keep all your receipts. • Settle personal charges at the hotel the night before you check out. • Remember: You are a guest in a foreign country. Customs and food will be different than at home. We encourage guests to embrace the new experiences. • Your final document booklet pdf file will be available approximately 5-3 days prior to departure What is included in the cost of a trip? Each trip is custom designed, so each tour package is different. However, most trips include accommodation for double occupancy, most meals, transportation in country, guides, entry tickets to museums, archeological parks, all sights per itinerary etc., headphones, travel resources and advice. Some trips include airfare. All the information about each trip is at the website and brochure. What if I can’t find a roommate? While we will try to match you with a roommate, we cannot guarantee one will be available. If no roommate can be found, you will be responsible for the single room supplement additional fee. This notification can come to you as late as 30 days prior to departure. Where will we stay? Accommodations are based on double occupancy rooms with attached baths in first-class or deluxe hotels. Favor Travel reserves the right to substitute similar-category hotels as needed, with prior notice. Private rooms are available upon request, subject to additional Single-Room Supplement fees paid by the Traveler. What meals are included? Unless otherwise stated on your brochure, as usual at group tours buffet breakfasts and dinners are included, from dinner day of arrival to breakfast in day of departure, with Travelers covering the cost of beverages not specified in the daily menu. No refunds are given for unused meals. In-flight meals may be provided by suppliers, but meals in the USA or during transit are not included in the tour. At cruises as usual All-inclusive meal plans. Check your tour or cruise meal plan with us. What if I have dietary restrictions? If you have allergies or other dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance. We will communicate them to your tour leader, lodging and restaurants to the best of our ability. Although we do our best to provide alternatives and most restaurants we visit are very accommodating, there may be cases where special dietary needs can’t be guaranteed. We recommend those with dietary restrictions bring extra snacks to assure that you always have something you can eat available to you. What can I expect upon arrival? After going through customs, you will be met by our representative just inside the baggage claim area or after baggage area, who will give you instructions. Collect your luggage and pay attention to the directions. En route to the hotel, you will also be told the procedures for luggage & checking in. Porters will only handle your primary piece of luggage. You are responsible for your carry-ons and personal items. Will a company representative meet us at the airport? YES. Our personnel will meet you upon arrival at your final destination and will accompany you to the airport at the end of your tour. There will not be a representative at US airports. What are the buses like? The deluxe touring coaches are air-conditioned and usually accommodate up to 40-55 passengers. In some countries (Israel) have wi-fi. Are there restrooms on a bus? There are no restrooms on the bus; however, sufficient stops will be made for your comfort. How long is the typically touring day? On most days, you will depart the hotel between 7:30-8:30 AM and will return late afternoon, around 5:00-6:00 PM. Your guide will announce the daily schedule. How much walking is there each day? While this will vary, expect to walk 1-3 miles daily over varying terrain (stairs, cobble-stone, etc.). This will be intermittent and often there will be somewhere to pause for rest. If you are concerned about the difficulty, please discuss this with your travel advisor. Am I fit enough to travel? What if I have mobility issues? Passengers registered for the tour accept the responsibility for being in good health and able to walk and travel on the tour. Because many of the sites are not accessible to the physically challenged, those needing oxygen, wheelchairs or other ambulatory assistance will find the tour extremely limiting to their experience. Guides, drivers and other staff are not permitted to assist with wheelchairs or the like for liability reasons. Will my tour schedule change? We do allow flexibility for your tour guide to alter the schedule to give you the best experience. Also due to security reasons, weather or issues with roads, etc. tour schedule may be changed. Have any lectures or special services been planned? Please refer to your brochure and/or detailed itinerary, which will be in your final document booklet PDF. In some tours – yes, in some – no. How can I call home? Calls may be made from your hotel room phone for a fee. You may also either rent an international cell phone or bring your own cell phone with you. If you are able to make calls using WiFi, we recommend simply putting your phone on airplane mode in order to avoid international calling charges. NOTE: Contact your wireless carrier to find out if your phone will work overseas and, if so, what the rates will be. Will I have Internet access? Nearly all hotels will offer internet access (charges may apply). Please see the front desk for current rates. Also, many touring motorcoaches have onboard WiFi. A Note on Electricity… You will need an international adapter (2 round prongs, Type C or a 3 round prong Type H) & converter set to safely use your electronics. Israel, Turkey, Greece and all European countries uses 220 volts, vs. 110 in the USA. Note: Some devices are “dual-voltage” and do not need the converter. Check your specific device to see if a converter will be necessary for you. Use caution with devices that heat up, such as flat irons and hair dryers as they can ruin your converter and appliance. It is best to purchase the kind that can run on 220 volts with the flip of a switch. Will I be able to hear my guide? For your convenience, we are providing headsets to your group (if 20 or more are traveling on the tour). These will allow you to stay connected to your guide, even in crowded or noisy areas. For your comfort ,you may use your own headphones if you do not find the provided set to be comfortable. What should I wear on my Christian tour or cruise? We recommend comfortable, breathable clothing. In most cases, wear what you wear at home. A hat, sunglasses and a rain poncho are also a good idea. Some days will involve long rides and/or a lot of walking. So, comfortable shoes are a must! NOTE: At many holy sites, both men and women are expected to have their shoulders and knees covered. Please check with your guide for any clothing restrictions for the following day. Is the water safe to drink? Please ask your guide upon arrival if your destination has safe, potable water. As many of our guests visit Israel during their travels, we can say that Israel has safe drinking water. But our recommendation to drink only bottled water in another countries to avoid any reactions of your body. What will the weather be like? There is no way to predict the weather; therefore, we recommend checking www. weather.com before your departure to get an idea of current temperatures and conditions for the cities you will be visiting. Although the climates we visit are typically dry during spring, summer, and fall, we recommend packing rain protection. Will I be able to shop while the tour? Yes, time will be allotted for shopping during the tour. Please be courteous of others while shopping, and be aware of when the group and bus are ready to leave. NOTE: Any purchases made are at your own risk. We are not responsible for your dissatisfaction with any purchases. Guides are not authorized to recommend any stores or shops on our behalf. What is VAT in Israel? VAT (Value Added Tax) is a sales tax of at least 17% that is charged for most goods in Israel. This amount is part of the price and, is not added at the register. It is possible to claim back most of this tax for Israel. The best way to do this is to see if the retailer you are buying from is affiliated with tax-free shopping. If so, they will give you instructions for your refund. Generally, all you have to do is collect a completed form (receipt) from the store, which lists your purchases. You MUST have this form stamped by customs when you leave the country. At the airport you will find VAT refund desk and they will explain what to do. What about using traveler’s checks and credit cards while travelling? We do not recommend the use of traveler’s checks as you may experience difficulty using and/or cashing them. You may also be subject to significant handling fees. Credit cards can be used for most purchases. IMPORTANT: Before you travel, contact your bank or credit card company to notify them about your travel plans to avoid difficulty using your card overseas. Will ATM machines be available? ATMs are available at local banks and at most hotels. You will receive funds in the local currency. NOTE: You will likely be charged a fee and may be subject to daily withdrawal limits. Please, check fee and limits with your Bank. What type of currency is used? Please check your destinations’ currency on their ministry of tourism website. If traveling to Israel, Shekels are used; however, in Israel, US currency is widely accepted. We suggest you take a good supply of small bills: $1s, $5s, $10s, etc. How much money should I bring? Not included in your tour package are the following: lunches, spending money, optional tipping, and tips for the guide and driver. We suggest at least $500 USD to cover these and any miscellaneous expenses, but it is a personal decision. Should I exchange money before I go? This may or may not be necessary, depending on your destination, but if you prefer to have local currency, you can exchange it at your local bank or the airport. Currency exchange may not be available at the hotel, so if you plan to exchange, do so before you leave or at the airport of arrival. Guide and Driver tipping? Unless specified otherwise on your brochure, there will be a voluntary tip collected for your guide and driver. While in Israel, the suggested amount is $5-7 per person per day for your guide and $4-6 per person per day for your driver. Your group leader will pass around an envelope for this collection near the end of the tour. What about tipping? Unless otherwise stated on your brochure, prepaid gratuities have been collected for the porters as well as the hotel dining, housekeeping, and front desk staff. However, if you request any special services from the staff, an additional tip of $1-3 or so would also be appropriate for your lunches and occasional other services (such as using the restroom at a church). Your guide will let you know when this is appropriate. TICKETS AND FLIGHTS What airline will be used? We have contracts with many IATA carriers. Your flight schedule will be available approximately 45-30 days prior to departure. What about frequent flier miles? Unfortunately, we are not able to process miles towards your flights and/or up-grades. However, you may earn miles for your flights. To do so, please provide a agent with your frequent flier number at check-in. Information about your airline’s frequent flier program is available on the airline’s website. May I request special seating and/or meals on my flights? YES. Requests should be submitted to our office in writing at least 105 days prior to departure. However, we cannot guarantee that your requests will be honored. It is ultimately the airline’s decision. What if I miss my flight or it is cancelled on the day of the departure? Contact us immediately. After that, speak to a gate agent to see when the next available flight will be. It is the airline’s responsibility to get you to your destination as soon as possible. Once you have your new schedule, be sure to call our office so we can let our overseas staff know when to expect you and so we can arrange a new transfer time for your group if necessary. Who is responsible for any airline schedule changes and/or expenses? All flight times are subject to change by the airlines without advance notice. We are not responsible for changes and/or delays in airline schedules or any expenses associated with such changes. NOTE: Should you incur any expenses due to a scheduling change, make sure to keep your receipts as you may be able to be reimbursed through your travel protection policy if you chose to purchase one. When may I receive my flight information? Flight information is available approximately 30 days prior to departure. Your travel advisor will remit your final documents to you. Please contact your advisor for questions about their standard way of remittance. What if I booked my own flights? Please be advised that Favor Travel Tours & Tickets has only scheduled transfers between the airport and the hotel for those who book their flights through FTT&T. If you elect to purchase your own flights as a “Ground Only” passenger, you are ultimately responsible for securing transportation between the airport and the hotel, both for your arrival and departure. We recommend guests discuss purchasing a separate FTT&T transfer package with their travel advisor. Otherwise, please be prepared to make your own transfer arrangements from the airport to the hotel on arrival and then back to the airport at the end of your trip, as we cannot guarantee there will be space for you on any of our transfer buses.

DAY 3 SATURDAY Pyramids, Egyptian Musem After breakfast, we begin our tour by visiting the Pyramids of Giza. Cheops Pyramid, the largest of the three which was built in the 3rd dynasty about 2690 B.C. and is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. In front of the Pyramids of Chephren, We find the Sphinx carved from a single piece of stone, it incorporates a lion with a Pharaoh’s head, thought to be a portrait of the Pharaoh Chephren son of Cheops. You take a camel ride by the Pyramids area and visit the Papyrus Institute. In the afternoon, drive to the Egyptian Museum famous for its antiquities from Egypt’s Pharaonic period, which dates back some 50 centuries and includes the fabulous treasures of king Tut –Ankh-Amon (Tutankhamen), followed by a visit to the medieval bazaars of Khan-El-Khalili. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 4 SUNDAY Cairo, Suez Canal, St. Catherines Starting early from Cairo, we board our bus and drive towards Sinai crossing over the Suez Canal we drive through Sinai Peninsula enjoying the desert landscape, retelling the story of the Exodus and the delivery of the Israelites from the Pharaoh of Egypt. From here we head straight to the towering red granite mountains of the high range where both St. Catherine’s monastery and Mt. Sinai are found. Check into our hotel for our evening meal and overnight. DAY 5 MONDAY St. Catherine's, Tabah, Petra For those who are physically capable and would like to climb, in the early morning hours we begin our ascent up Mount Sinai, walking in the footsteps of Moses and the devout pilgrims who have trodden this same route throughout earlier centuries until today. We should reach the summit just before dawn in time to witness its incredible sunrise and splendid views. At the summit is the traditional peak relating to the story of Moses’ encounter with God receiving the two tablets with the Ten Commandments knows as the basis of the Mosaic Laws. Descending the mountain we return to the hotel to rejoin the rest of the group for breakfast. We spend the later part of the morning touring St. Catherine Monastery, taking in its fascinating and unique sights and exceptional history traditional Burning Bush and the Chamber of the Skulls. After lunch we board our bus and head towards the eastern shores of the Sinai Peninsula on the Red Sea to Tabah where we cross into Israel at the southern tip of the country and make our way to the Jordan border. After crossing into Jordan we will meet our Jordanian guide and drive north for approximately 2 hours to the Nabtean city of Petra. Check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 6 TUESDAY Petra Today we will spend time in one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Start the tour of Petra; you are in the heart of the rose red Seir mountains as mentioned in the Biblical Book of Genesis. This mountain range houses the Aaron Peak, which is the highest locality in Petra and the burial place of Aaron, brother of Moses. We take a walk through the narrow “Siq” passage, the main entrance to Petra, which first brings us to the Treasury, which was featured in the Indiana Jones’ movie. A walk further down through the outer ‘Siq’, which is encompassed by tombs and burial chambers, brings you to one of the largest theaters in Jordan. This theater is carved into the sandstone mountains of Petra at the bottom of the High Place of Sacrifice Mountain. Apparently, some sacrificial rituals used to take place here. Now, it is time to walk up hill to the Royal Tombs; The Urn, Corinthian, Silk, and Palace Tombs. You will have a great view of the lower part of Petra with all its Roman remains. We retrace our steps to the entrance and return to our hotel in Petra for dinner and overnight. DAY 7 WEDNESDAY Madaba, Mt. Nebo, Bethany, Amman This morning we board our bus and drive along the Exodus route north along the famed historical King’s Highway. Arriving at Madab we will see St George’s Church with its 6th century mosaic floor showing a map of the Holy Land as Christian pilgrims knew it in that period. Continue to Mt. Nebo, from where God showed Moses the Promised Land. This afternoon we take a short drive to the recently discovered baptismal site of “Bethany beyond the Jordan” For us Christians, the most significant event associated with the River Jordan is undoubtedly the baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ by John the Baptist. It is strongly suggested that this took place very close to Beit Abara, where Joshua, Elijah and Elisha crossed the river. In the New Testament times, it became known as Bethany, the village of John the Baptist. (This Bethany is not to be confused with the village of Bethany near Jerusalem, where the Bible says Lazarus was raised from the dead) “ The Bible clearly records that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist (Matthew 3: 13- 17), and that John the Baptist lived, preached and baptized in the village of Bethany, on “the other side of the Jordan” (John 1: 28). The baptism site, known in Arabic as al-Maghtas, is located at the head of a lush valley just east of the Jordan River. It is now protected and since 1999 it is accessible to visitors. After Jesus’ baptism at Bethany, he spent forty days in the wilderness west of the River Jordan, where he fasted and resisted the temptations of Satan (Mark 1: 13, Matthew 4: 1-11).” Continue to Amman where we are taken to our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 8 THURSDAY Amman, New York This morning we go to the airport for our flight home. DAY 4 TUESDAY Luxor, Esna, Edfu After breakfast, a ferry boat takes us across the river to the West Bank of the Nile to visit the fabled Colossi of Memnon. We then continue to the mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut (Egypt’s only female pharaoh) and the Valley of the Kings, where we step from a dramatic landscape of sun, sand and rugged mountain peaks, into the dark silence of some of the sixty-four tombs discovered here to date. Return to our cruise ship for lunch. Threading through the Esna Locks, we arrive at Esna an hour later. We go ashore to visit the ornately hewn Temple of Khnum with its gracious, colonnaded vestibule. Return to the ship where we enjoy dinner as we sail to Edfu. DAY 5 WEDNESDAY Edfu, Kom Ombo This morning we explore the birth house at the Temple of Horus and other engaging sights. This afternoon we cruise the Nile, enjoying the splendid poolside facilities of our luxurious barge en route to Kom Ombo. In Kom Ombo, we see it’s unique and spectacular temple, dedicated to two gods: Horus the sun god, and Sobek the crocodile god. Tonight, we enjoy dinner aboard, followed by a lively Galabeya Party with a display of oriental dancing. DAY 6 THURSDAY Kom Ombo, Aswan This morning we sail to Aswan where we see the Aswan High Dam. We then head for the quarries of ancient Thebes and a chance to walk on the Unfinished Obelisk. After a relaxing lunch on board, we take a sailboat cruise to Elephantine Island and the Aga Khan’s mausoleum. Here the tombs reveal the colossal space concepts of the early Memphis architects. Dinner on board the ship. DAY 7 FRIDAY Aswan, Cairo This morning we will be at leisure before we leave our cruise ship and be taken to the airport for our flight to Cairo. This afternoon we will board our flight to Cairo. Continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight. Upon arrival we are met and begin our tour with a visit to the Luxor Temple on the bank of the Nile as well as the complex of temples at Karnak, including Amun Temple, the largest columnar structure ever raised. We continue our exploration amid massive columns and inscrutable statues at Luxor's fertility shrine of the sun god. Then horse-drawn caleches continue to the Avenue of the Sphinxes and Karnak's colossal wonders. We then check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. We proceed up the new toll road in Israel to the famous Sea of Galilee where we check into our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 3 This morning we enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Sea of Galileeto Capernaum, then visit Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes. In the afternoon we follow the Rift Valley running parallel to the Jordan, along the route Jesus most frequently traveled to Jerusalem. We visit Beth Sheanat the foot of Mt. Gilboa, where King Saul was slain, see the evidences of Egyptian, Roman and Byzantine occupations, and view the ancient tel, Roman Theater and church mosaics. Our last stop today will be at the Jordan Riverwhere we will have the opportunity to be baptized, then transfer to the hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight. DAY 4 “We are going up to Jerusalem.” (Matt. 20:18). We drive west to Nazareth. Traveling through Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed his first Miracle, turning water into wine (John 2). We proceed to Nazareth and Ascend Mount of the Precipice at the brow of Nazareth to an overlooking surveying the Valley of Jezreel, synonymous with Armageddon. We then drive through the valley to the mound of Megiddo, Har Megiddoin Hebrew, which gave its name to Armageddon. We then ascend Mt. Carmel, site of Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal. From there we drive towards the Mediterranean coast traveling south along the coastal highway to Caesarea by the Sea. We enter Caesarea Maritima to explore this Roman bridgehead to the east, which became the Christian springboard to the west. After the visit this ancient harbor, we board our bus and we head up the historic Beth Horon road (Joshua 10:10) to the Benjamin Plateau, passing ancient Gibeon and continuing on to Jerusalem. Finally, atop Mt. Scopus, we behold majestic Jerusalem. Check in to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay. DAY 5 Today we drive to Masada and ascend by cable car to the magnificent ruins of the fortress where, from 70 to 73 AD, Jewish defenders made their last stand in the Judean revolt against Rome. We see the remains of storehouses, cisterns and a sixth-century Byzantine church. Continuing alongside the Dead Sea, 1300 ft. below sea level — the lowest spot on earth — we proceed to Ein Gedi,where time permitting we will walk the path to see the waterfall in the desert. This afternoon we continue to Qumran. and the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. We will have a stop for lunch and for those that want to swim in the Dead Seamay. We travel to Jericho, the world’s oldest city. From the excavated tel atop the ruins of ancient Jericho we view the lush green Jordan Valley, Elisha’s spring and Qarantal, the Mount of Temptation. We will head up to Jerusalem and return to the hotel for dinner. DAY 6 “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace” (Luke 19:42) We start the day with an orientation to Jerusalem from the Mt. of Oliveswith an opportunity of a group photograph overlooking Jerusalem. We then walk the traditional Passion walk. We descend to the church known as Dominus Flevit (“Our Lord weeps”). After viewing the Golden Gate, we walk downhill to Gethsemane,where we take time to meditate on the Gospel text. Boarding our bus (If you want you may walk by the tomb of the kings) and get off at a roman road, where we climb Mt Zion to the grounds of a church called Peter in Gallicantu, which affords the best view of early Jerusalem from the west. (Here, the Assumptions Fathers suggest, was the house where the High Priest Caiaphas interrogated Jesus.) We drive to Dung gate and enter where we will stop at the Steps that entered the temple. It was here that Jesus would have taught the disciples. See a video that shows the temple as it was at Solomon’s time. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11). We drive south to the region of Bethlehem, passing Rachel’s Tomb on the outskirts of Bethlehem. We drive to a hilltop for a view of Bethlehem, noting its relation to the rest of the central mountain range, including Jerusalem, as well as to the desert and the area of ancient Moab. Driving south, we visit Solomon’s Pools, Jerusalem’s main source of water for almost 2000 years. Passing the monastery of Hortus Conclusus (“the sealed garden”) in Artas, we go to Herodion, the palace set in a conical mountain built by Herod to mark his tomb which was in the news lately with the recent discovery of Herod’s Tomb. Note the juxtaposition of the two Kings of the Jews. The King Herod buried in great opulence and the King of the Jews born in a humble manger in Bethlehem sitting in the background of the Herodium. We then drive to one of the possible sites for Shepherds’ Fields. We continue into Bethlehem itself, walking through the restored old town to the Church of the Nativity and visiting the manger and see the cave of St. Jerome. We drive back to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. DAY 7 “He has risen!” (Mark 16:6) After breakfast we transfer to the Dung Gate, we walk up to the Western WallJudaism’s holiest site. We ascend to the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site of Islam, located on the traditional site of the ancient Temple Mount. It is believed that here is where the Temple once stood. Just to the north we find the Pools of Bethesda (John 5) and St. Anne’s Church, the church is perfectly preserved from the Crusader period – with remarkable acoustics. We then follow the Way of the Cross (Via Dolorosa)through the bazaars to the Holy Sepulcher. From there we walk through the Christian Quarter along the Arab Souks and past the Armenian Quarter. This afternoon we will walk out to the Damascus Gate and go to the Garden Tomb where we will end our day with a special visit and the possibility of having a private communion on the grounds outside the city walls. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 8 This morning we will have some time to have a last visit to the old city or just rest and get ready for our flight to Rome. This afternoon we transfer to the airport for our flight to Rome. Upon arrival we will be taken to our hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 9 This morning we will visit the most interesting sites which are linked with the life of the Apostle Paul in Rome. Insula di San Paolo alla Regola. Tradition has it that Paul used to live in this area during the years of his first imprisonment. Paul worked as a leather tanner. Here Paul met with the first Christians in Rome. 1245, we find the words “In loco qui dicitur Pauli” (In the place called “of Paul”). CHURCH OF SANTA PRISCA. Now Prisca came from a rich Roman family and Aquila, her husband was probably Greek. Paul spent a couple of years with them in Corinth and this is very often mentioned in his Letters and the Book of Acts ( see Rom 16,1-23, Rom 16, 3-5 and Act 18, 1-3). Visit the church where you can still see the big Doric Capital used by Apostle Peter to baptize Prisca. CATACOMBS OF SAN SEBASTIAN is Located on the Ancient Appian Way, this is the place where the bodies of Apostle Paul and Apostle Peter where kept during the Christian persecution of Valeriano ( 253 – 260 AC) There are a lot of “grafiti” in Latin and Aramaic in the catacombs and in the Basilica of San Sebastian. ABBEY OF THE THREE FOUNTAINS is the place of Paul’s martyrdom, where tradition has it that three different springs gushed out at each spot touched when Paul’s head fell down. ST PAUL OUTSIDE THE WALLS St. Paul outside the Walls is a Benedictine Abbey which shares its name, origins and centuries of history, both joyful and sorrowful, with the adjoining basilica. Visit the Basilica where the bones of Paul have recently been found and you will leave Rome with the real spirit of first Christians in your mind and in your Heart Return to hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 10 This morning we visit the Vatican Museum and Gallery, Raphael’s Rooms with their wonderful frescoes, the Sistine Chapel– where Michelangelo’s recently restored masterpieces adorn the ceilings and walls – and Pincio Garden. This afternoon we continue sightseeing of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Navona Square; with its beautiful Bernini’s Fountain of the Rivers. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
